Leaf Love, For Reals This Time
Do you follow me on Twitter (twitter.com/askthemd)? If you are a Carbon Leaf fan, you’re gonna wish you had yesterday. I sent out a tweet with news that I had posted some Leaf details on my blog, complete with a link to said blog. The blog post had a letter from Terry addressed to ‘Friends and Family’ that contained a link to download the band’s entire new EP. For some reason, I got it in my head that the e-mail was addressed to ‘Fans and Family’ or ‘Friends and Fanlies’ and that the link was just back to the band’s website for details. Oooops!
Shortly there after I received a text and e-mail from Barry, politely asking me to remove the link for obvious reasons. The band is selling the EP at shows and so forth, and as they are a newly-minted indie band, my giving the music away cuts into their bottom line. Nobody wants to do that!! Leaf leakage must be prevented! So I removed the post immediately.
Barry did say I could let you hear a song and you should, because it’s great.

Carbon Leaf – Native America
So here’s the original post, minus the link from Terry, followed by a brand new Leaf song called “Native America”. Don’t worry, we’re all still smizing.

It’s YOUR week, Carbon Leaf fans! Zoo show, live webcast of a Music Lounge at 11am on Wednesday right from The Mountain’s homepage and now this… new music. This is the note from Terry:
Dear Friends and Family,
Carbon Leaf has recently completed a new seven song EP called How The West Was One that will be available officially in a few days.
This release marks the first on our new record label and is the beginning of what we hope will be a “continuous stream of music”…. Needless to say we are really excited and we wanted to share it with our close friends and family.

Take Care,

Shawn,
Enjoyed the pitch and the new song. It reminds me of another of their songs, but the name is escaping me at the moment, but I think it’s on either the Echo Echo or Ether Electrified Porch Music albums.
Can’t wait until this afternoon! I’ve got my low chair, my shades, my sunscreen, and my shorts – see you at the Zoo!
